DeVilbiss Healthcare Wins Digital Health Award

PORT WASHINGTON, NY  – June 22, 2016

DeVilbiss Healthcare was selected as a winner in the 18th annual Digital Health AwardsSM program for its innovative SmartLink® App for the IntelliPAP® 2 CPAP System. The SmartLink App received the Award of Merit in the Telehealth/Remote Patient Monitoring category with a classification of Connect Digital Health. This competition, held twice a year, recognizes the world’s best digital health resources.

“Drive DeVilbiss has long been recognized for producing high quality, highly reliable PAP therapy technologies, and it is an honor to be selected as a winner in the 2016 Digital Health Awards competition,” said Mitch Yoel, EVP of Business Development for Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare. “With effortless feedback, clinically relevant notifications and alerts, and tailored, actionable insights into one’s sleep therapy, the SmartLink app will help enhance the quality of life of millions of individuals suffering from Sleep Apnea.”

DeVilbiss Healthcare partnered with WillowTree, Inc. to develop the SmartLink App for Smartphones, which interfaces with the IntelliPAP 2 wirelessly over Bluetooth, pulling data daily from users’ devices to keep track of their progress. SmartLink captures both quantitative data from the device, as well as qualitative data about how they are feeling on therapy. This data can be wirelessly transmitted back to a user’s HME provider or used privately by the patient. The SmartLink App also allows users to:

  • Review simple, color-coded feedback on CPAP therapy
  • View reports for daily, weekly, monthly and yearly usage
  • Receive notifications for high leak and low usage
  • Receive reminders for replacing supplies such as mask and tubing
  • View help videos for setting up and maintaining the unit

The SmartLink App is available for download in the App Store and Google Play.

“We were honored Drive DeVilbiss chose us to design and develop a mobile application which will help users improve their lives in a meaningful way,” said Tobias Dengel, CEO of WillowTree. “As with all apps we work on, the primary goal was to take an incredibly complicated data set and turn it into an easy and intuitive experience that users look forward to using every day. We believe this app is an excellent example of how connected devices and the Internet of Things will transform our lives."

The Digital Health AwardsSM program is organized by the Health Information Resource CenterSM (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for professionals who work in consumer health fields. Other well-known HIRC programs include the annual National Health Information AwardsSM, which annually recognizes the nation’s best consumer health programs and materials (for non-digital resources), and the annual National Women’s Health & Fitness Day®.

DeVilbiss Healthcare was acquired by Drive Medical in 2015, and the company became known as Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare.
