Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare Clinical Support Team Members to Speak at Medtrade

Port Washington, NY – November 8, 2018

Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare announced today that it will sponsor a symposium at the Latin American Federation of Sleep Society’s 17th annual FLASS Congress, held November 9-11 at the Hotel Enjoy Punta del Este in Uruguay.

The symposium, titled “Accreditation in Sleep Medicine-The Latin American Experience”, will focus on the pros and cons of current and soon-to-be-implemented sleep medicine processes needed to strengthen the practice and improve the quality of life for Latin American patients.

According to an article in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, a study was conducted to determine the most common sleep disorders found in four Latin American countries. At the end of the study, doctors found that there was a high percentage of obstructive sleep apnea not diagnosed in metropolitan areas of Mexico City, Uruguay, Chile and Venezuela. Of the 4,533 subjects studied, 60.2% reported snoring, 16.4% reported excessive diurnal sleepiness, 12.3% reported observed apneas, and 34.7% reported insomnia.

To combat the increase of sleep-related disorders and symptoms, sleep therapy is needed. For those suffering from obstructive sleep apnea, a CPAP device is generally the most effective form of therapy. The DeVilbiss IntelliPAP® and SleepCube CPAP systems are designed to provide varying levels of air pressure depending on the individual’s needs.

“Our team is excited to increase awareness and adoption of the high-quality, high-value IntelliPAP® and SleepCube® portfolio brands for the treatment of sleep apnea within Latin American countries,” said Wally Haddick, VP of Sales – Latin America. “Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare is proud of the industry partnership with FLASS and the sleep community, knowing our support allows the collaboration of sleep professionals at the highest academic levels.”

The event is organized by the Argetine Association of Sleep Medicine (AAMS) and the Sleep Association of Uruguay (ASSUR). It is also academically endorsed by the CLAEH University and declared as a tourist interest by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Uruguay. Approximtely 500 participants are expected to attend.

At booth 11, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare will highlight the SleepCube CPAP device. For more information on the full line of Drive DeVilbiss products, visit www.drivemedical.com.
